Dr. Delia Dimitriu received the award for science at the “Top 100 Romanians Abroad” gala at the Repatriot Summit. Together we connect Romanians”, which took place in Iasi on 6-9 October 2022.

The event is a special initiative aimed at promoting Romanians with outstanding professional achievements at national or international level.

This year’s gala honoured both Romanians who excel professionally in various fields and people from the diaspora who have been constantly involved in projects for Romania’s economic, cultural and social development.

Working with Geostud, where she is in charge of the Climate Change and Circular Economy Department, Dr. Delia Dimitriu has succeeded together with her team to bring Romanian decarbonization solutions to the world. Thus, Geostud will participate in November 2022 at COP27- Egypt as an exhibitor, with its stand located in the Climate Action – Innovation Zone.

“Thank you for this opportunity and I am very happy for the Repatriot initiative, because although I have been in the UK for two decades, I have continued to work with colleagues in Romania in various projects.

I have been constantly coming to the country – visiting and working in various regions of our beautiful country”, Delia Dimitriu told the participants of the event through Mr Vlad Sandu, Deputy Director General of GEOSTUD, who was appointed to collect the award.

“Geostud’s collaboration with Delia Dimitriu aims at developing strategies; shaping programmes and projects at local, regional and European level on climate change and defining measures that need to be taken to counter its effects”, says Petru Nicolae, Geostud’s General Director.

Dr. Delia Dimitriu is a world-renowned expert in decarbonising transport and mobility. She was part of the International Panel on Climate Change team with which she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
